Main Tasks and Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage a portfolio of customer accounts: follow up on overdue accounts, negotiate payment arrangements and actively collect past-due invoices.
- Evaluate credit applications from new customers and recommend credit limits and payment terms.
- On-going review of our customers’ credit status and accounts receivable aging and perform the required follow-up to improve collection times.
- Develop and recommend collection strategies and credit policies.
- Lead the resolution of complex disputes and deductions with customers and internal teams.
- Identify and implement improvements to billing and collection processes.
- Reconcile account receivables and resolve pending debit notes and other customer deductions.
- Invoice customer orders.
- Process pending orders.
- Verify and approve credits (returns).
- Coordinate customer deposits and ensure their timely application.
- Perform various data entry for the accounting department.
- Occasional reception replacements (lunch breaks, vacations, absences).
- Support the accounting team, other sporadic accounting projects or tasks.
Required Competences and Skills
- Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar role.
- Bilingual (English/French), both spoken and written (English is necessary as we serve all of Canada and have international clients).
- Good working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Accuracy, detail-oriented and ability to identify missing or inconsistent data.
- Strong analytical skills and sound judgment to support credit and collection decisions.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interact with customers and resolve disputes.
- Strong organizational skills, autonomous, and ability to determine priorities and work under pressure.
- Experience with SAP Business One (strongly preferred).
- Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment (an asset).
Education
Vocational diploma (DEP) in accounting or equivalent training, or relevant experience. Certified Credit Professional (CCP) designation from the Credit Institute of Canada (an asset).
Schedule
Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – (40 hours per week)
